Our Yarn
Our alpacas produce an incredibly soft, light and warm fleece in a variety of natural colour shades. Each year we shear them and carefully sort and grade the fleece. Only the very finest fleece is used for yarn. The next grade is wet felted or needle felted, and the most of the remaining fleece is used for stuffing. Any fleece that is left is put out for the birds in spring. They love it for making their nests!
The fleece is then scoured and either carded ready for spinning, or hand-dyed in slow cookers in our home to produce beautiful soft colours.

Most of our hand spun yarn is 2-ply and is approximately equivalent to double knitting. Because the alpacas are only shorn once each year, the yarn is truly limited, and often cannot be repeated. Their fleece may be slightly different next year. It's perfect for small knitting projects, and can be worn by many people who sometimes find wool irritating to their skin. Handspun yarn is available in skeins or balls. We also have raw fleece available, as well as and carded batts for spinning.

We also sell other carefully selected and beautifully soft alpaca yarns which you can see in our shop.
